In aerospace, mass transit, rail and automotive manufacturing, the importance of weight and fire resistance makes fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) a critical component. The inherent fire-resistance of cured phenolic resins and their other properties make them a solid choice for high-temperature environments. FRP composites are used to replace traditional structural materials of steel, metal, aluminum and wood in these applications. These composites offer numerous advantages over traditional materials - lower density, lighter weight, better corrosion resistance, higher strength, and increased durability.

GP Chemicals offers a wide line of phenolic resins from which the aerospace, transportation and automotive industries can choose to provide the properties needed for their manufacturing process. Our products are used around the globe as a primary element of FRP composites in applications such as fire-resistant flooring materials, railcar and bus parts, walkways and passenger platform decking, and aircraft interiors.

We offer phenolic resins for pultrusion, sheet and bulk molding compounds (SMB/MC), hand lay-up and resin transfer molding (RTM) filament winding and honeycomb, glass fiber and carbon fiber prepregs. Many of the GP® resins have passed United States, British, and International Maritime Organization Standard Fire tests or meet Military Specification MIL-R-9299C requirements.
