LEAF® Resins Help Wood Producers Meet New Regulatory Requirements

The Problem

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) began the implementation of Phase 2 of the Airborne Toxic Control Measure to Reduce Formaldehyde from Composite Wood Products beginning January 2011. To meet the new emission requirements, alternative resins were needed in the market.

GP Chemicals Solution

GP Chemicals developed and successfully trialed with our customers new products that aid in complying with the CARB Phase 2 emission requirements. In addition these new products are compatible with existing manufacturing processes for easy substitution. This family of new products was launched as LEAF® low emission wood adhesives.

Our customers were able to easily transition to the new LEAF® products without significant process changes, thereby maintaining a reliable supply chain.
